Holy Name Society
The Holy Name Society was formed in 1274 by Pope Gregory X who commissioned Blessed John of Vercelli, Master General of the Dominican Order, to preach devotion to the Holy Name of Jesus.
The confraternity of the Most Holy Names of God and Jesus (Holy Name Society) promotes reverence for the Sacred Names of God and Jesus Christ, obedience and loyalty to the Magisterium (the authority that lays down what is the authentic teaching of the Church) of the Catholic Church, and he personal sanctification and holiness of its members.
Our Lady of the Rosary’s Holy Name Society is a spiritual organization that works with the Pastor to help Our Lady of the Rosary Parish and work with the Ordinary in our Diocese in any way that we can.
The Holy Name Society sponsors the following events:
- Advent and Easter Evening Prayers
- Evening Socials
- Field Trips
- Holy Name Society Monthly Mass
- Healing Mass
- Movie Night
- Pet Blessing
- Radio Rosary
Members of the Holy Name Society participate in the following ministries and events:
- Bible Study
- Coffee and Donuts Gathering (2nd Sunday of the Month)
- Endymion Parking
- Fish Fry Dinners
- Jazz Fest Parking
- Serve as Extraordinary Ministers of Communion and Lectors
Meetings are held on the third Thursday of each month at 6:30pm in Vincent Hall (1324 Moss Street).
